Target Search Robots

List directories you do NOT want crawled (e.g., /admin/, /cgi-bin/). Separate by line.

Save this file as robots.txt and place it in the root directory of your website (e.g., yoursite.com/robots.txt).

Understanding Robots.txt

A robots.txt file is a standard text file that tells search engine web crawlers (like Googlebot) which pages or files they can or cannot request from your site. This is mainly used to avoid overloading your site with requests or preventing sensitive or duplicate backend pages from appearing in Google search results.

Note: robots.txt is not a security mechanism. A malicious crawler can simply ignore the file. To secure sensitive information, you should use proper authentication or encryption mechanisms.
